I’d never heard of the Giving Brewery before, so when I plucked it off the shelf and read the description, I was floored: 100% of profits are donated to local Wisconsin charities. I had to know more.
The little I could find on the web led me to this statement on a local news article: “Every quarter, we partner with a local charity and produce a beer the proceeds will go to and then we sell it out in the market in the Milwaukee and Madison area,” said Adam Bauer with Octopi Brewing. So evidently this is Octopi Brewing pairing with MMM105.5 to raise money for charity. Bravo, Octopi, well done. If more businesses had this sense of social responsibility, the world would be a better place.
All that said, we still have a HopDuel to take care of, so let’s move on to the next beer. Up against the Paws off my Porter, I grabbed Indeed Brewing Company’s Stir Crazy Porter. Look deep into the eyes of the owl on this can and tell me you don’t start to question the very essence of your soul! I’m not sure who they commissioned for this artwork, but very well done.

I didn’t know what to expect from The Giving Brewery. Honestly, I grabbed it because I read all of the profits went to a local charity, but holy cr@pballs, this beer is fantastic! The aroma itself isn’t overly impressive, but once it hits your lips….it’s so good! It’s like a rich chocolate bar in liquid beer form, going down smooth and delicious!
The Stir Crazy Porter from Indeed was also pretty damn good. On its own, a very impressive selection. But in the end, there can be only one, and in this duel, that one is The Giving Brewery’s Paws Off My Porter.
